2024

To be honest, as midnight struck & people said 'Happy New Year!' my mind was screaming  STOP, WAIT, REWIND PLEASE! I'm not done with 2023 - I'm not half the person I ought to be!  I'm not ready to go on. I felt left behind and weary. "The seasons march at Your command, The old departs, The new year comes." (Selah) Time zooms past or lingers painfully at the pace set by a sovereign, merciful God whose will and purposes are being fulfilled every passing minute.  The year won't slow down or expand to accommodate my agenda, but it does march steadily to the beat of its master drummer, conductor, composer.  Each year will not fail to accomplish His agenda. All the puzzle pieces, big and small, fall into place at exactly the right time. His sweet sovereignty over all things gives me grace to hope and wait with courage for the fulfillment of His promises. I can face the daunting challenges, heartbreaks, and joys of the new year with gladsome expectation. ...

A Place to Overflow

Having experienced the wonderful providence of God in linking Bible studies, hymns, sermons, talks, books, and various meditations together to weave precious lessons, encouragements, and life-changing realizations leading to richer, more reverent worship, despite my physical limitations for emotion, I decided to document tidbits of my life in Christ - mainly the truths he sends to light (and lighten) my way to glory.

Since I just joined Bible Study Fellowship to study the gospel of John with my local church, many posts will be related to that.

My goal is two-fold:

  • To help my soul remember graces received, and lead it to increasing wonder, gratitude, and godliness.
  • To "overflow" and testify to others about how wonderful God is, how gracious to sinners, how full of delights, how trustworthy, how worthy of unceasing adoration, and so on.

Reminders to self: Yes, these posts will be imperfect. Whatever you may lack in knowledge, wisdom, skill, time, or strength, may you never lack in prayer. Perhaps no one will ever get to see your foibles and the outpouring of your heart, but if God wills to use your meager offering to nudge one soul Godward, be content and rejoice at your participation in His kingdom. Rejoice always that you are His, called, welcomed, ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven (that's from a hymn!) Your soul has much cause for joy. This blog and any attendant result is not your source of joy, but an extension and manifestation of the joy already yours.
